Curious about the background?

It mirrors my fascination and also the meaning of my name Akash. Derived from Sanskrit (ākāśa), it translates to guess what? The sky. The vastness of the skies draws me, and you'll easily find hundreds of sky photos in my phone gallery. This fascination of mine led me to the realization that I am obsessed with such experiences that give me joy. I'm sure you are too. Happy ones, sad ones, crazy ones. They all make up the canvas of our lives.

How can I bring joy & value to others? ...by creating experiences for them. Experiences that help improve lives, solve problems, bring out the best in people, and help them experience their lives better. Unknowingly, this chain of thoughts drew me to the craft of product design and human-computer interaction. Part of what excites me about it is its pervasiveness and human focus.

I believe design is my calling and you'll find me relentlessly exploring, learning from my mistakes, and chasing Aha moments in all work I do.

I spend my leisure time expressing myself through music, reading non-fiction books, and exploring nature.

JOURNEY

I stumbled across the discipline of Human-Computer Interaction in my senior year of pursuing a B.Tech. The HCI intro course taught by Dr. Bhutkar was a preview for me into the world of user experience design and helped me realize my inclination toward it. After which I worked for over two years at BrainoidTech as a UX Designer. My drive to gain knowledge and expertise flew me thousands of miles away from my family here in the United States. I chose to pursue the MS HCI program at Indiana University.

In addition to being a graduate student, I worked as a researcher with Dr. Andrew Miller. I also served as an ambassador with the school guiding students to fulfill their dream of studying HCI. I also facilitated bi-weekly "JagChats" online design talks with IUPUI industry experts supported by Dr. Davide Bolchini. Currently, I work at Bloomberg LP with a team of talented individuals who are passionate about innovation and helping our users drive the world's economy.
